We at Elgin Broadsword Society are run as a not for profit HEMA club by volunteer members. Any funds raised go straight back into the club to fund new equipment, courses for volunteers, hall fees and safety equipment.
We are affiliated with the Academy of Historical Arts and fully insured through them. All members are also expected to have their own personal insurance through the AHA when they commit to the sport.
Below is an introduction to our current volunteers.
Tembu – Lead Instructor
Daniel – Club Admin and Sparring Supervisor
Daniel has always had a passion for history and high fantasy books/games! He practised Archery for several years but was introduced to HEMA by his brother, a long swordsman of several years, who noticed a new club had started in Elgin. Daniel has been practising HEMA with the club since then and has been running the club admin since the club’s founder relocated in May 2023. He runs the club social media accounts, attendance tracking, finance and does the odd bit of club merchandise design as well!
If you are contacting us through socials or email it is most likely to be Daniel you will be talking to.
If our lead instructor Tembu is away Daniel will facilitate and run sparring only sessions so that everyone can still get their weekly dose of stress relieving, historical and ‘safe’ violence.
